Background
Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Parks and Recreation Month, and the United States House of Representatives officially mandated July as Parks and Recreation Month in 2009. As we observe July as Parks and Recreation Month, we also support the skilled work of parks and recreation professionals who help to strengthen the community and connect people with nature and each other and provide opportunities for healthful living, and environmental sustainability.
