BACKGROUND:
Background
The City held a Primary Election for Deltona Commission Districts No. 1 and 2 on August 20, 2024 and a General Election for Deltona Commission Districts No. 1, 4 and 6 on November 5, 2024. All seats are for a four-year term with the exception of District No. 1 which will be for the remainder of a four-year term to expire November 2026. These results of the election are to be ratified by the City Commission.
The City Charter was changed in 2008 to remove the requirement that the Canvassing Board shall immediately report the results of an election to a meeting of the City Commission. However, historically the results have continued to be brought before the Commission for this purpose.
