BACKGROUND:
Background
The City Commission finds that the Florida Legislature’s recent enactment of Florida Statute §163.326 warrants a comprehensive evaluation of data centers and whether amendments to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Land Development Code, or other regulations are appropriate to address the unique impacts associated with such facilities. Although a moratorium is not necessary to prohibit a use that is already unauthorized under the City’s existing Land Development Code, it is prudent and in the public interest to formally maintain the City’s existing regulatory status quo for a limited period while the City evaluates whether additional or specific regulations addressing data centers are appropriate.
