BACKGROUND:

Background

This project is a 50/50 cost share agreement, and funding is budgeted in the FY26/27 Budget.  In December 2025, staff presented the original agreement for this project under Resolution 2025-159, which the City Commission approved for a total project cost including construction of $1,839,040.

Amendment No. 1 identifies the cost of design services for the project in the amount of $238,420.  Volusia County selected the firm of Drummond Carpenter in May 2026 as the engineering firm to provide the design services.

Lake Sweet Gum is  interconnected to Basswood Lake in the Twin Lakes Subdivision.  There is no outfall from Basswood Lake, which poises potential flooding in the neighborhood and surrounding communities.
