BACKGROUND:

Background

The City of Deltona (City) receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on an annual basis. Staff has been notified that the City will be allocated approximately $500,000 for HUD Program Year (PY) 2024-2025. The receipt of these funds are predicated on the submission of an Annual Action Plan (AAP).  Once the AAP is received and approved by HUD, these funds are available to implement activities identified in the City’s attached 2024-2025 Annual Action Plan (AAP).  The AAP was under public notice and public review/participation from June 20, 2024, until August 4, 2024.  The AAP will be presented to the Commission for approval at the regular Commission meeting on August 5, 2024. The Annual Action Plan (AAP) list projects to be undertaken and funded by the CDBG allocation during the 2024-2025 grant PY.

Per HUD guidelines, up to 15%, of the CDBG allocation can be used to fund public service organizations serving City residents. In accordance with HUD guidelines there has been public participation to help determine how the CDBG funds are to be used within the City. Seven (7) public service applications were received by the City. Several City staff members served as the ranking and review committee for these grant applications. Applicants were provided an opportunity to give an oral presentation about their program and answer questions from the Ranking and Review Committee.

The Committee’s ranking is predicated on a merit-based review of each of the seven (7) Public Service applications.  After review of the applications, not all applicants were awarded funding.  The following is the result of the five (5) applicants that were awarded funding:

APPLICANT                                                                                    REQUESTED                     AWARDED
