BACKGROUND:
Background
Commissioner Burbank submitted his resignation letter to the City of Deltona on January 30, 2024 with an effective date of February 1, 2024.
The process used to fill the vacancy is the same as used in the past and is set per the City Charter, Section 5. City Commission. The Commission vacancy was advertised on the City’s website, in the newspaper, on social media and in a Press Release. The deadline for applications was by Noon on Monday, February 19, 2024.
The purpose of this Special City Commission Meeting is to appoint an individual to fill the Commission District 1 vacancy until the next regularly scheduled election, November 2024 and for that individual to be sworn in immediately after this agenda item.
Applications have been received from the following interested individuals: Morris Froscher, Davison Heriot, Ramon Rodriguez, Tracy Thomas, Lyman Wescott, and Brandy White. The following applicants do not qualify as they do not live in District #1: Richard Dicks, Matthew Shaw and German Taveras. Also, Tom Burbank withdrew his application.
