BACKGROUND:
Background
This is a request from The Deltona Martin Luther King Celebration Committee and the West Volusia Branch NAACP who have been working on a design for a statue of Dr. King to be placed at The Center at Deltona. Attached is a draft of the statue design.
This was shown at the Deltona MLK Luncheon on January 13th at The Center at Deltona. It was very well received by the community and the Commissioners who were in attendance.
If after discussion the City Commission is in agreement to grant the request, staff would like a consensus to work with the organizations in order to move forward with the request.
