BACKGROUND:

Background

The City of Deltona approved the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Deltona Professional Firefighters Local 2913 on December 11,2023. Within the CBA it was agreed upon to add an EMS Captain position to conduct department required EMS training. This position will be available to assist with necessary fire training as well. A budget amendment will need to be approved to finance this position in the amount of $98,000 which includes salary and benefits.

The Fire Department is also requesting approval for a vehicle for this position. The EMS Captain will be a certified firefighter and will be able to respond to emergency calls. The vehicle will be a Ford 150 style vehicle equipped as an emergency vehicle; which includes emergency lights, siren, radio, and department stripping. Having their own truck will also allow the Captain to transport large training supplies and equipment to designated training events and between stations. We are requesting the purchase of this vehicle and a budget amendment to the Capital fund of $70,000
