The Deltona City Commission voted via the adoption of Ordinance No. 20-2004 on July 19, 2004, to dissolve the City's Code Enforcement Board and appoint a Special Magistrate to adjudicate any matter that could be brought before the Code Enforcement Board including matters regarding the City of Deltona codes, ordinances, and other violations. Meetings of the Special magistrate are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are held in the City Commission Chambers at 2345 Providence Blvd. All interested residents and visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend. Special Magistrate is a quasi-judicial body whose creation is enabled by Chapter 162, Florida Statutes, which was enacted into law by the Florida Legislature in 1980. The City of Deltona Special Magistrate is William E. Reischmann, Jr., Esquire who is an attorney under contract with the City and is authorized to impose administrative fines and other noncriminal penalties to provide an equitable, expeditious, effective and inexpensive method of enforcing any codes and ordinances in force within the city. ~The maximum fine the special magistrate can apply is $250.00 per day and $500.00 per day for repeat violations. ~A repeat violation is the same violator or same violation. NOT necessarily the same address.
